Meet the team!

Your teachers are Mrs Edgington, Mrs Daji, Mr Wailes and Mrs Sharif.

You are supported by Mrs Wood, Mrs Turver, Mrs Teasdale and Mrs Hinchliffe.

Week Commencing: Monday 15th May 2023

Homework

Children should also keep up with their reading and visit TT Rockstars and Reading Plus regularly.

TT Rockstars should be done little and often, every night for about 10 minutes would massively help them to learn any times tables they don't yet know or improve their speed. Reading Plus suggests children should read at least 3 or 4 texts (with the comprehension questions) a week to improve their understanding of a text and their reading speed.

English:

The children will continue to work on a narrative based on a book called, 'The Arrival'. They will start their unaided write this week by highlighting key features of language in a model of the text before writing sections themselves.

.

Maths

This week we will be focusing on ratio and proportion. The children will do some problem solving around making, packaging and buying cupcakes. This will be a theme throughout the maths work for the whole week.

Science

Our topic is based on 'Living Things and their Habitats'. They will start by looking at vertebrates and invertebrates and then sorting on classification keys. We will then look at how Carl Linnaeus classified living organisms and do an investigate to determine what happens to microorganisms on mouldy bread.

PE:

Our PE day will be Fridays. Children must ensure they attend school in their PE kits: plain white top, plain black shorts/joggers and trainers. Any hoodie a child wishes to wear needs to be plain black. Alternatively, their red school jumper or cardigan is fine.

*Please note: studs will need to be removed prior to PE lessons.

Uniform: Please remember to wear plain black school shoes. You may wish to wear one pair of small studs, however no other jewellery is permitted.
